Personal Impact

All young people accessing counselling through CHeCC member agencies complete evaluation forms under a programme called Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation (CORE). This gives each person a 'score', which is like taking a person's emotional / mental temperature.  Like a thermometer, the higher the score, the more 'unwell' the client.

A client's 'temperature' is taken at the first (initial) appointment, 4th appointment and last appointment.  As a result, we can measure  changes in a client's emotional and mental well-being.

CHeCC's data shows that over a period of counselling, on average CHeCC’s clients experience a consistent reduction in their level of anxiety and ill-health. This is demonstrated in the graph below which shows that over the period of a counselling relationship most clients drop below the advised level for clinical intervention of 1.19 for males and 1.29 for females.
