Social Impact
The impact of community counselling has been researched from a cost benefit perspective, which shows that a programme of community counselling involving 8 sessions results in a saving to the public purse of eight times the cost of the counselling in the first year alone.
This includes reduced call on health services, reduced absenteeism from work or education, but does not include such things as savings to the criminal justice system, meaning that the benefits could be even greater.
